In a move that will reverse the Bush administration’s decision to not allow states to override EPA emissions standards, Obama will tell regulators to allow this action by the states.

Obama to Let States Restrict Emissions Standards

I just have a few comments.

First, I agree with Obama letting the states dictate the regulations.  I wish that was the reason why he did it.  It wasn’t to hand over rights to states, it was to push forward the environmental movement.  I wish Obama would start caring about states rights.

Second, while agree with getting better gas mileage, I don’t think that the government should dictate it!  Ever heard a crazy term called freedom or free market at Harvard?  Let the market dictate what happens.

Third, I sure am glad that we gave GM and Chrysler a bunch of money to keep them in business and now we’re going to tie their hands.  Great strategic move!  Typical government.

Last, it amazes me that the “Republican” governor of California is worried about this at a time when his state is looking like it will have to send out IOUs for tax refunds!

Ridiculous example of special interests getting their pet projects taken care of!
